Wow!  It's great to be home!  I'm grateful for hospitals, doctors, nurses and all the staff at Texas Health Presbyterian.  But I'm sooooo glad to get Terry home.  He has rested well.  Right now William is taking him for a walk.  He's not talking at all today.  Don't think he's uttered a word.  But he nodded yes when asked if he wanted to go for a walk.  :)

We're waiting to find out if he will go to inpatient rehab.  Should know Monday.  In the meantime, we'll try to get back to our routines.  He sat in the kitchen while I cooked breakfast this morning and we ate in there.  Then to the living room for a few minutes before taking a nap.

Like I said.....it's good to be home. :)

The last post was actually about the 16th, Sunday.  Didn't realize it was so late when I posted.

Today started off kinda rough.  Terry was in a lot of pain.  But this afternoon he perked up some and talked with everyone.  Shirley, Andy, Cindy, William and Emily all were here.

He had physical therapy for the first time today. They were very good with him, had him sitting on the side of the bed, even balancing by himself.  They had some great ideas of ways to work with him.  I'm hopeful...

The home health care nurse stopped by today to bring a lab report.  He has a bladder infection.  Poor guy just can't get a break!

Also, he has a new mattress!  Bright and early this morning his air mattress was delivered.  He seems to rest very well on it.
Thanks for the prayers.  They are definitely being answered.  Terry was talking today!  His pain is under control most of the time.  The swelling in his arm and hand will go down a little and then go back up.  We're not out of the woods yet....a couple more days, the doctor said.

He has thoroughly enjoyed having William, Shirley, Andy and Cindy here!  Today he was making jokes!  He had them laughing.  He blew his Mom a kiss, hugged (actually moved his arms) William, just amazed us all!  The doctor came in and was so surprised at how much different he was!

A few weeks ago he had 2 very good days like this, maybe even better.  I just hope this isn't short lived.  I hope what we saw today is here to stay.

Sitting in the hospital waiting for the doctor to come in....  Terry was admitted yesterday afternoon for a blood clot in his shoulder.  That's been the problem with his hand and arm.  It had swollen past the elbow, so I called the doctor to get him seen yesterday.  She sent us for an xray and untrasound of his hand and arm.  Thankfully!  So here we are.  They've started the medication to break it up.

Shirley, Andy and Cindy (parents and sister) are on their way from North Carolina.  They had already planned to come.  Hopefully we'll be back home before they get here.  If not, we'll visit here.  :)
Please keep them in your prayers as they travel.

William and Rosco (his dog) arrived safely from Colorado last night.  He came up for a couple of hours. He had driven all night and day, except for stopping to rest a couple of times.  Thanks to all who had him in your prayers for a safe trip.

Terry's resting fairly well. I think his legs are hurting.  He keeps moving them.  I want to get him in a chair, but the doctor may not approve that, I'm told, because the blood clot could move.  I certainly understand.

He seems sad today....

Please keep him in your prayers.  We appreciate you all so much.

Still quiet!  Yesterday and today (Tuesday) Terry has slept, wherever he is.  He's still having a low grade fever in the evenings, don't know why.  Also, his left hand and wrist are swollen.  The nurse told me to put a brace on it while he's in bed, so I've been doing that.  She thinks he's injured it by the way he sleeps on it, possibly.

I just wish he would feel better.  Thursday he has an MRI to check on the spot that showed up last time.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Terry was very quiet today....mostly slept.  I got him up twice today, but he kept falling asleep in his wheel chair.  I like to have him sit in it some every day.  It's a different kind of pressure than lying in bed or in the recliner.  I think it helps maintain his balance to sit, also.  In fact, he fell asleep during every meal.  I kept having to wake him to feed him.   Hopefully he'll be more awake tomorrow.  He's sleeping now. :)

The pictures aren't in order.  It was a little chilly that day so he was bundled up.  Since then he goes without the blanket and with a baseball hat.  There's another post before the pictures.
Another week has come and gone!  There never seems to be enough hours in the day!  Still doing laundry...

Terry is doing ok.  He's still pretty quiet.  Once in a while he'll come out with a sentence.  In fact, he did this morning, uh guess that would be yesterday morning, now.  He has a new Occupational Therapist that started yesterday.  It's a man, and Terry spoke to him.  I've always thought he would respond better to a man, with his Air Force background.  I'm excited about the goals they've set for him.  This guy is going to concentrate on strengthening Terry's core muscles.  He had him sit on the side of the bed and held on to his shoulder for a few minutes until he was sure Terry was balanced.  Then he had him put his hands between his knees and lean slightly forward.  That caused Terry to support himself.  (I usually have him hold onto the side of the mattress and I lean against him so he won't fall.  So I've enabled him to be supported rather than use his own muscles.  I learn something new every time they work with him.)

In the morning, Friday, we get the new electric lift.  I'll be glad to have it.  Hopefully it'll be a lot easier on my arms and shoulders. :)

We miss William!  When he was here Terry "stood up" every day.  I'll be glad when he gets back.  I know Terry misses his walks.  William should be back the middle of next week.

One other thing...Terry's left hand and wrist are swollen and hurt to move.  The nurse thinks he just bent it when he slept, so I got him a brace for it.  He keeps looking at it like he's trying to figure out what it is.  The swelling has already gone down a lot.  Hopefully it'll be fine in a few days.
