Wow! It's Tuesday of a new week! Where does the time go???
It's still pretty quiet....Terry's not talking much. William is still taking him on walks. And yesterday Terry "walked" from the living room to the bedroom in his wheelchair. I took a video of them. William is so patient with him. He moved his feet all the way!
Today they took a very long walk! Pictures soon.

Terry is in his recliner watching tv with his favorite son! William got here Sunday evening! The time is flying by! But, he has decided to move in with us to help with his Dad. All of us are thrilled! He'll go back to Colorado May 1 and work a week or so, pack up and move here.
Terry hasn't been very talkative this week like he was last weekend. (Did I even blog about that?) He seems really tired. William and the physical therapist helped him walk twice yesterday! Just a few steps, but he actually moved his feet, himself! Then William took him for a walk around the block. Wish I had taken a picture. He was so cute, wearing his hat and wrapped up in a blanket. I think William talked to him or rather with him the whole way. He told me Terry responded to his questions. I'm sure he's so happy to have William here.
And with William here I'm not having to put him in the lift every time because William can lift him and pivot to the wheel chair. (I help a little) I'm so thankful!

Terry's feeling much better today! He's had a busy day...the nurse took some blood, the aid bathed him, then physical therapy came to work with me getting him up and down in the lift.
After everyone left I took him outside for a few minutes and let him soak up a little sun. He really seem to enjoy being out there, looking around, watching cars come and go. He didn't say a word the entire time. But he also didn't fall asleep!
When I brought him in I took him to the living room in his wheelchair. But I just feel so bad for him sitting in it. I'm sure it's not very comfortable. So I dragged the lift into the living room and transferred him from the wheelchair into his recliner! Got his legs up, a pillow behind his head and he took a nice long nap. He's been awake for a while, now, watching tv and eating supper. It's so nice to have him in the living room and know he's comfortable and not have to watch to make sure he doesn't fall out of the chair.
All in all, a very nice day!

Terry hasn't felt well today, he's hardly moved all day. He's eating fine, but won't use his hand to hold anything, not his cup or food. He had a fever last night and again tonight. The dr. called in an antibiotic for him and we started it this evening. I sure hope it helps. Hopefully, he'll feel better tomorrow and I'll get him up again.

This afternoon Terry had a "swallow" study. A mobile unit came to the house and we just had to take him out in the wheelchair to it. Didn't take long for them to say he holds liquids in his mouth a long time before swallowing. (that's what prompted the study) But he's not choking, so that's good news.
The rest of the week was just the usual visits from home health. On Tuesday he wouldn't speak at all for the speech therapist, not a word! On Thursday he fell asleep while she was working with him.
Also, on Tuesday he couldn't stand for the physical therapists. He can't support his weight at all.
Today Shannon sat with him for me to go to the eye doctor and the aid came to bathe him. She asked him if he would turn over (usually he doesn't respond to questions) and he told her NO. She asked why not and he said, "Because you've been beating on me!"
Even though it's harder on us when he's not cooperative it shows some spunk. I'm glad of that.
No worries, the aid is nice as can be. She's very kind to him, calls him her buddy. He's charmed all of them, as usual.
He's had a low grade fever in the evenings. We can't figure out why, but I'm sure that makes him feel out of sorts.
All in all it's been a pleasant week. Didn't have to go anywhere with him, so he got plenty of rest.
He's sitting in the living room watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.

I did it! I learned to use the lift. Yesterday and today I got Terry up! I put him in his wheelchair and took him to the kitchen with me while I cooked breakfast. Today I opened up the back door and let him sit there looking out while I cooked. Then off to the table to eat!
He sat up 4 1/2 hours yesterday! He's already back in bed napping now. I'm going to get him up for dinner. Bryan is cooking dinner for us!

Wow! It's April already! Terry seems to be a little more alert the last couple of days. He has talked more, also. Last night he asked me if I gave the dog some water. That's the first time he's mentioned Tyler!
Today he said he wanted to ask me some questions, but didn't. I know he's thinking! He sat up and ate his breakfast and stayed up for over an hour! (on the side of the bed)
We go for an xray on his right knee tomorrow. We'll see if they find anything wrong. He has pain somewhere, just not able to tell me where.
Physical Therapy was supposed to come today, but didn't hear from them. I'm anxious to start using the lift to get him out of bed. Just guess I'll have to teach myself! :)
